![]() We got 10 different species of fish today, continuing the theme of variety here on the docks and flats. He's a Hokie, a forester, and he knows a couple of my best and oldest friends from school, and also knows hokienator's parents from their forestry connections. Fishing today with my neighbor Paul who fishes a lot for trout. OK, another interesting morning in the Mojack Bay and the rivers that feed it. Struggling to get into fish on the flood tide with a boat that drafts a bit more. I had a real shitty time as far as hooking fish go but it was a fun overall trip. Unfortunately we didn't really have anywhere to shelter but found a back creek and hung out there for awhile. About time to call it a day when a storm whips up out of nowhere between us and the 15ish mile run back to the ramp. got 3 short black tip the biggest at around 3ft. Once the creek and back flat get flooded it all slows down so we took out the shark gear and went after sharks. Pull a slot red, 3 short trout, a short flounder, and a whiting out in the first hour on swimbaits with the water pushing into the creeks. Hit up the same spot right when we get on the water. No damage no one hurt but I felt like an idiot, luckily I just kinda skimmed over it and was able to trim up and put back out to the channel. So I'm fishless and pissed and in pain so I run back to the ramp and completely disregard I'm outside of the channel and wreck a sandbar at about 25kts. The 80% chance of rain turned into 100% chance of sun poisoning for me because someone took the sunscreen off my boat at some point. On the run back to the ramp we fished some with little luck. He takes two casts and lands two solid reds, 22.5 and 25. Picked up my bud at about noon and roll to a spot we've had success at before. ![]() Get on the water a bit late with my dad one some water I've never fished before, grass looked good but we couldn't hook up with anything missed on two what I suspect were trout. Had some bigger ones roll but all my tackle was in the boat and most were struggling to get the 5/0 keel weighted hook into their mouthÄay two forecast looks miserable 80% chance of rain clouds all day, not very favorable tides with a 0.1 low at 4am to a 7.5 high. It was a blast, every cast they'd roll on just about anything. Friday was supposed to be a pleasure cruise day, rain kept us off the water so I was rigging some rods up and took a cast into my parents pond in their front yard.
